Seven international artists gather on a former shipyard site,
where Wilhelmina reads its own gallery as two things at once: a
lighthouse throwing light for anyone still navigating rough water,
and a cathedral holding up its own foundational pillars. The
show pulls its title from Helen Hunt-Jackson’s poem “God’s
Lighthouses” and Ken Follett’s “Pillars of the Earth,” borrowing
both the sailor guided home by a single beam and the medieval
builders raising something sacred out of stone. Art here works
the same way, offering shelter and warning in equal measure, a
place to rest without losing sight of the false lights that can lead
you astray.
