PIRAEUS MUNICIPALITY ART GALLERY PRESENTS ROOTS IN THE SKY BY CHRISTINA ANID

Christina Anid believes nothing discarded is ever truly empty,

that objects keep the memory of the hands that held them. That

belief runs through everything she makes: Greek metal tamata,

small votive offerings tied to hope, prayer, loss and healing,

multiplied here into complex bodies and surfaces where one

anonymous wish becomes everyone’s own. Of French,

Lebanese and Hungarian origin, she carries that same instinct

for gathering into her practice, which moved over time from

collage and photography toward sculpture and installation. This

retrospective doesn’t move chronologically; several bodies of

work built side by side over the years sit together now, bound

by memory, womanhood, and the ongoing question of where

she belongs.
