Long before science and archives existed, the sky was already doing
the work: measuring time, giving direction, holding a civilisation’s fears
and desires in place. Synastry starts from that old habit of drawing
shapes out of scattered stars, borrowing a word usually reserved for
astrology and stretching it into something broader, a way of reading the
world through unexpected convergence. Twenty artists take the planets
and constellations as their starting point, working alongside thirteen
poets whose verses run through the space, while the National Library
adds its own layer: rare manuscripts and books from its Special
Collections, sitting beside the contemporary work. What builds across
the atrium is less an exhibition about space than one about the very
human need to find pattern inside the incomprehensible, and hold onto
it.
