A fairy tale of pain and persistence unfolds in Georgia Lale’s In This Sign Conquer.

Known for her activist practice and the iconic Pink Flag, Georgia now turns to the language of ancient Greek grave steles, reimagining them as intimate monuments to women’s endurance.

Through sculptural wall reliefs, fabric patchwork, and multilayering, she revives the figure of Anna, the schoolbook girl and protagonist of a familiar fairy tale, who becomes a witness to centuries of silence and oppression.

Between the grotesque and the tender, the cruel and the hopeful, Lale weaves artworks made from bed sheets donated by women across Greece, materials of rest, love, and suffocating memory, creating a new mythology of solidarity: a call to understand, to remember, and to re-conquer through compassion.
