MUSEUM OF ACROPOLIS /NEON PRESENTS ALLSPICE | MICHAEL RAKOWITZ & ANCIENT CULTURES

13.05.2025 - 31.10.2025

Michael Rakowitz doesn’t just show work—he inhabits the room. His voice lingers like spice in the air, and his passion pulses through every object, every silence. Allspice unfolds in the shadow of the Acropolis, where absence speaks louder than presence. Here, ancient artefacts and contemporary works breathe together—telling stories of displacement, survival, and the longing to return. The pieces are not just seen; they are felt, as if fragments of lost worlds have found momentary refuge.

This first chapter of Michael Rakowitz & Ancient Cultures sets a deeply human tone for the trilogy ahead. Rare antiquities from the Middle East and Cyprus meet Rakowitz’s sculptural narratives of exile, restitution, and memory. Three new commissions expand this dialogue, rooted in the artist’s own history and shaped by his deep bond with Athens. In this city, where broken marbles await reunion, Rakowitz finds not only inspiration but kinship. His work, like the voices of the displaced, does not fade. It stays.
