GENNADIUS LIBRARY PRESENTS GENNADIUS 100: A CENTURY OF INSPIRATION

A hundred objects trace a hundred years inside the Makriyannis
Wing, rare books, manuscripts, maps and costumes pulled from
the depths of one of Greece’s most storied collections.
Photographs and video projections thread through the display,
turning donors, librarians and researchers into characters inside
a much longer story about knowledge and its keepers. A first
edition of Homer sits close to Flora Graeca’s botanical plates,
small treasures and monumental ones given equal weight. A
century in, the collection is still growing, still being read, still
open to discussion.
