GAGOSIAN PRESENTS SEASCAPES, STILL LIFES AND NUDES BY TOM WESSELMANN
Wesselmann’s nudes and still lifes at this exhibition stage a sharp, self‑aware encounter with the artist’s curious approach, which merged Pop art, consumer culture, and private desire. His “erotic simplification” distills the body and everyday objects into flat, vibrant fields and waves of color. The trademark shaped wooden supports and intensified surfaces turn each painting into a staged screen, simultaneously intimate and eruptive. In this first solo presentation of his work in Greece, his long exploration of the nude and the still life comes into focus as a sustained project: not just representing the body, but reconfiguring it through a language of memory, vibrant light, and deeply personal experience, as if each image carried a trace of his own life seen through the glow of color and desire.
