Gagosian Athens Presents: Rude in the Good Way by Roe Ethridge
The exhibition unfolds like skin on the eye, tactile, luminous, and strangely edible, as if one could taste its palette of perles, Nutella, skin and light.
Through a technique that exalts color into an explosion of exquisite intensity, the surface becomes almost painterly, so rich it tempts the viewer to consume it, as if sight alone could never suffice.
Between focus and distraction, discipline and impulse, the artist chases that elusive instant when an image crystallizes.
Returning to Athens, the work channels the spirit of the Erechtheion, a temple built on tension and divine rivalry, where beauty emerges through contradiction. Rude in the Good Way fuses fashion photography, portraiture, still life, and interiors, allowing these forms to collide and recombine into a new, sensual visual language, both polished and raw, deliberate and accidental.
