BREEDER PRESENTS IASONOS STREET, METAXOURGIO BY MARGARITA MYROGIANNI

Margarita Myrogianni first walked down Iasonos Street in 2001,

drawn in by the glances of men heading toward the brothels

moved there from Trumpa in 1967. Twenty-five years later, that

same street holds The Breeder’s gallery, closing the loop she

started as a young woman crossing into a world she’d only read

about, the daughters of Aphrodite she calls Aspasia, Timandra,

Lulu. The show gathers 72 black-and-white photographs in the

tradition of Weegee and Cartier-Bresson, 17 color works in

saturated, almost painterly tones, and 13 bronze sculptures

cast from objects found along the street, the same story told

twice, once caught in an instant, once built to last.
