ARCH PRESENTS: LENA HENKE EXPLODING PLASTIC INEVITABLE
At a time when sculpture can look back to classical ideals, Henke breaks the mold, literally and conceptually. Using bold techniques and refusing to follow traditional rules, she reimagines the sculptural body as something fluid, personal, and deeply political. Her works Hooves, Boobs, Sand Bodies feel alive: part process, part myth, full of transformation.
Rather than chasing perfection, she creates forms drawn from inner images and feelings, offering a feminist take on sculpture that’s as much about presence as it is about resistance.
Her figures women, horses, hybrids carry both strength and softness. They slip between myth and memory, inviting us into a space where sculpture speaks of desire, power, and becoming. In Henke’s hands, form is never fixed but always in question.
