Sofia’s Zarari’s Al Zekra begins from a primitive, ritualistic impulse, a need to handle, assemble, and care for what remains. Set within a former house, the exhibition takes on the feeling of a cabinet of curiosities, where vanity and devotion become ways of negotiating time, loss, and continuity. Bones, shells, threads, and fragments are brought together into dense, tactile forms that carry traces of lineage, grief, and migration without resolving them. Each work holds a quiet tension between exposure and protection, where care becomes a way of thinking, giving form to what persists, even when it resists being fully understood.
