Silk, metal, and memory are set into negotiation; control loosens and instinct takes over. Drawing from his grandfather’s life in sericulture in Soufli, Dimitrios Antonitsis brings silkworms into his sculptural practice, allowing their slow, methodical labor to shape and disrupt aluminum forms, that now resemble branches and organic filaments. These works exist in a state of becoming, neither fully authored nor entirely natural, hovering between intention and chance. What holds them together is a subtle tension: between past and present, human and non-human, structure and fragility, somewhere amid the making and the letting go.
