ONASSIS STEGI PRESENTS PHOTOGRAPHS BY YORGOS LANTHIMOS

7.03.2026 - 17.05.2026

Discovering the compulsive photographic universe of Oscar-winning director Yorgos Lanthimos at Onassis Stegi, his first-ever exhibition in Greece, proves deeply intriguing, bringing together 182 stills from the past five years.

Here, singular frames wrestle with storytelling limits amid an eerie absence, as we question if he’s slyly trolling us or beckoning us deeper into his vision of the banal transformed.

His inspiration draws from alien-like destruction, stark angles, plain yet unsettling views, and the cadaverous stillness of human bodies, revealing how he sees the world’s dilapidated fragments reassembled in unexpected, mind-bending ways, far from our own gaze.

Presented with exquisite clarity and almost clinical purity, the show moves us, shifting our (Mis-)understanding from his known cinematic edges towards his elusive, private heart.
