Upper Ankyle Presents: Syndromes of the Synthetic Never curated by Evagoria Dapola
Syndromes of the Synthetic Never, curated by Evagoria Dapola, challenges our perception of
form, meaning, and authenticity in an era where human experience is increasingly mediated
through technology. The exhibition gathers artists Panayiotis Androou, Adonis Archontides, Kerom
Ozan Bayraktar, Michalis Charalambous, Despina R. Charitonidi, Niki Danae Chania, Domenika
Georgiou, Konstantinos Lianos, and Marios Stamatis to explore the fluid boundaries between the
real and the synthetic. Drawing on philosophical ideas of the “life-world,” it examines how
memory, identity, and embodiment evolve within digital and hybrid environments. Rather than
treating synthetic worlds as imitations of reality, the show proposes them as authentic spaces of
existence: chaotic, calculated, and constantly shifting, forcing to rethink what it means to truly live
and connect in a material world.
